Country Line Dance:
Waltz

A "free-style" dance with the man leading the women through a variety of twists and turns. This describes only the very "basic" position.

Pairs around the room, progressing counter-clockwise.
Partners face one another, man facing line of dance, woman facing the man.
The man's left hand holds the woman's right. His right hand is draped lightly on her left shoulder and her left arm is draped over his right arm.

Competitive style:
The man's right hand is on the woman's shoulder blade and her left arm is firmly on top of his right.

MEN:

Moving forward, start with left foot:

1. step left taking an elongated step and dipping slightly at knees
2. step forward right
3. step forward left
4. step forward right taking an elongated step and dipping slightly at knees
5. step forward left
6. step forward right

WOMEN: (just the opposite) Moving backward, start with right foot:

1. step back right taking an elongated step and dipping slightly at knees
2. step backward left
3. step backward right
4. step backward left taking an elongated step and dipping slightly at knees
5. step backward right
6. step backward left

This dance is done in 3/4 time with accents on first and fouth step (beat).

Note:
The dip should come natural with the longer step.
Do not force it.
