Party Pros: Create your own Web Site
|My granddaughter chose Scooby Doo as the theme for her 12th birthday party. I thought it was going to be too young for that age group, but turned out to be the social event of the year.
She had a sleepover and each girl was asked to bring a flashlight if they had one.
The girls made their own pizzas (one of Scooby's favorite foods) with frozen bread dough, homemade pizza sauce and an assortment of toppings.
We had several games and group activities.
I went to bed around 11:00 p.m., telling the girls to come and get me if they needed ANYTHING. I waited about 20 minutes, then crawled out my bedroom window and cut the main power to the house, throwing the girls into total darkness. They ran to my room to get me, as instructed and found me gone.
On the bed was a flashlight shining on a large note made from letters cut out of newspapers and magazines that read:
If you want to
find your grandma, here is what you must do.
Attached was a folded note marked "Clue #1", which was another rhyme leading them to Clue #2, and so on, through a series of 12 clues.
A SCOOBY DOO MYSTERY!!
It didn't take them long to figure out what the flashlights were for. Windows were left slightly open so I could sneak around the house following their progress and I also had hidden 2-way radios in a couple of rooms so I could feed them extra clues if they got stuck.
Eventually they were led to open the front door where they found me sitting on the porch waiting.
